Why we built Loam
AI made business data easier to use for people without a data team. A head of sales could ask, “What was our best month last quarter?” and get an answer in seconds, without SQL or waiting for a report.
The answers were wrong.
The answer could sound confident and still be wrong. It might say $4.2M when the real number was $3.87M or describe a trend that did not exist. That is a hallucination. Your AI is guessing because it cannot see your transactions, pipeline, or other business data.
We kept running into this. The opportunity was real. The problem was specific. The fix existed. It just wasn't accessible to the people who needed it most.
Giving your AI access to business data used to take weeks of technical setup before you could ask one question. That put it out of reach for many teams without dedicated data staff.
So we built Loam.
What it does
Upload CSV, Excel, Parquet, JSON, and TSV files. Loam brings the data together and makes it available to supported AI tools, including ChatGPT, Claude, and Cursor. They work from your real numbers instead of guessing.
In Loam, you can add context that tells your AI what each column means. For example, a number can be labelled as last quarter's revenue in US dollars.
Use permissions to let your sales AI see revenue but not payroll. Your team can manage that access without writing code.
Your AI reads. It doesn't write. It can't change your files, alter a record, or send an email. It reads your data and answers questions. That's the design, not a limitation.
