Open an .xlsx file and work from the real rows.
Drop an .xlsx file up to 50 MB to view its first sheet in your browser. Your file contents are not uploaded to Loam. Sort and filter the rows, then export the active view as CSV. To ask questions about those rows, upload the exported CSV separately in the chat tool.

Open an .xlsx file without Excel
The viewer opens the first sheet in your browser without an install or account. The first populated row becomes the column headers, and the remaining populated rows appear in the table. Sort the rows, filter individual columns, and export the active view as a CSV.
More than an .xlsx viewer
A viewer shows what is in a file. Loam connects your files to your AI, so your AI answers from your real data. To try the separate chat tool with this sheet, export the active view as CSV and upload the CSV separately to ask questions about those rows in plain English. To preview another workbook without changing it, use the separate tool to open the first sheet in your browser. Working with another format? Open an Excel file or a CSV file the same way.
How to open an .xlsx file
Use the viewer above. Drop your file and explore the first sheet. If you’d rather work in code, here are two quick alternatives:
Python (pandas)
import pandas as pd
df = pd.read_excel("data.xlsx")
print(df.head(20))DuckDB
INSTALL excel;
LOAD excel;
SELECT * FROM read_xlsx('data.xlsx') LIMIT 20;Open your file above to sort and filter the first sheet. To ask questions about those rows, export the active view as CSV, open the separate chat tool and upload that CSV there.
