Loam

How to connect ChatGPT

Connect ChatGPT to Loam's configured MCP resource and choose the account it should use.

For a product overview before setup, see how Loam works as the database for ChatGPT.

What you'll need

  • A Loam account with access to the workspace you want to connect
  • ChatGPT on the web with Developer mode access

Steps

  1. Copy Loam's shared MCP URL: https://www.loamdata.com/mcp. You do not create a separate endpoint. You can also find it under Settings > Connect AI (sign in to open this page).
  2. In ChatGPT, open Settings > Apps > Advanced settings and enable Developer mode.
  3. Create an MCP app, paste https://www.loamdata.com/mcp into its server URL field, and choose OAuth.

  4. When Loam opens, sign in and choose My account or an eligible workspace Agent. Review the workspace, related human, restrictions, and current access, then approve.
  5. Start a new chat and select the Loam app from the tools menu.

Which permissions apply?

Loam checks the selected account's current permissions for every MCP request. If you select an Agent, only the Agent's direct and permission-group access applies. Your personal permissions are not added. Loam still records you as the related human for auditing.

Disconnect ChatGPT

Open Settings > Connect AI (sign in to open this page) and revoke the specific ChatGPT authorization. This does not revoke the shared MCP resource, the selected Agent, or another person's authorization.
