How to install Loam in Claude

For a product overview before setup, see how Loam works as the database for Claude.

Ready to connect? Install Loam from Claude's connector directory. Claude will open Loam when it is time to create your account and approve access. Loam then opens pricing separately without delaying the connection.

What you'll need

• A Loam account with access to the workspace you want to connect
• Claude web or Desktop with custom connector access

Steps

1. Open Loam in Claude's connector directory and choose to connect it.
2. Complete Loam setup. Sign in or create your account and create a workspace.
3. Choose My account or an eligible workspace Agent, review the access shown, and approve Claude.
4. Loam returns the original tab to Claude and opens pricing in another tab. You can choose a plan there; closing that tab does not undo the approved connection.
5. In a conversation, use the + menu and enable Loam under Connectors.

Manual setup

If the directory listing is not available in your Claude workspace, add Loam as a custom connector using the shared URL https://www.loamdata.com/mcp. For an individual Claude account, open Customize > Connectors. In a managed Team or Enterprise organization, an owner opens Organization settings > Connectors.

Do not configure this remote connector through claude_desktop_config.json. Use Claude's connector settings so OAuth can open Loam's account picker. You can also find the shared URL under Settings > Connect AI (sign in to open this page).

Which permissions apply?

Claude receives only the selected account's live MCP access. Selecting an Agent does not add your personal or human-group permissions to that Agent. Loam records both the Agent and you, the related human, on audited requests.

Disconnect Claude

Revoke the specific Claude authorization under Settings > Connect AI (sign in to open this page). Other people's Claude authorizations and your other clients remain independent.
