How CSV to Parquet conversion works

Your browser uploads each CSV to Loam. Loam infers supported column types, writes a compressed Parquet file, and returns it for download. Files are not added to an account or saved as workspace data, and source and output files are cleaned up automatically.

You do not need an account, email address, Python environment, or desktop data tool. Loam does not set an application-level file-size cap. Files can contain up to 1,024 columns and remain subject to browser capacity, service capacity, and request deadlines.

Why convert CSV to Parquet?

CSV stores values as plain text and works almost everywhere. Parquet stores typed data by column and compresses it, which makes it a better handoff for many analytics tools and pipelines. Loam infers supported column types from the CSV and writes the Parquet output with Zstandard compression by default.

Check the source in the CSV viewer or inspect the converted result in the Parquet viewer. Need a plain-text file again? Use the Parquet to CSV converter.
