How Parquet to CSV conversion works

This converter uses the same anonymous conversion path documented in the Loam public API docs. Your browser uploads each file to Loam, which reads the Parquet data and returns a CSV for download. Files are not added to an account or saved as workspace data, and source and output files are cleaned up automatically.

The public service has no application-level file-size cap. It accepts up to 1,024 columns and 30 conversions per rolling minute per engine. Browser capacity, service capacity, and request deadlines still apply.

Why convert Parquet to CSV?

Parquet keeps column types and compresses well for analytics. CSV is universal. When a colleague sends a Parquet export but your next step is Excel, Sheets, or a CSV-only workflow, conversion gives you a file every tool can read.

If you want to inspect the original file first, use the Parquet viewer. After conversion, open the result in the CSV viewer or upload it to chat with your data so your AI answers from real rows. That is the same grounding pattern Loam uses for trustworthy answers.

Need the reverse direction for a pipeline handoff or analytics workflow? Use the dedicated CSV to Parquet converter. Loam writes Parquet with Zstandard compression by default while preserving the values it can infer from the CSV input.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert Parquet to CSV online?

Upload one or more .parquet or .parq files and wait for Loam to convert them. Each CSV download starts automatically when it is ready. You do not need to install Python, DuckDB, or a desktop data tool.

Can I convert CSV to Parquet on the same page?

Yes. Use the direction switch above the drop zone to convert CSV to Parquet instead. CSV output is plain text, and Parquet output is written as a compressed analytics file.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

Yes. Files are uploaded to Loam for conversion. They are not added to an account or saved as workspace data, and Loam cleans up source and output files automatically.

Is there a file-size limit?

Loam does not set an application-level file-size cap for anonymous CSV and Parquet conversion. Very large files are still limited by browser upload behavior, available service capacity, and request deadlines.

Which Parquet compression formats are supported?

Loam reads uncompressed, Snappy, Gzip, Brotli, legacy LZ4, Zstandard, and LZ4 Raw Parquet files when those codecs are enabled in the service build.

Can I ask questions about the converted data?

Yes. After downloading a CSV, open the chat with your data tool and upload that CSV there. Your AI can then answer from the real rows instead of guessing.

Go past file conversion

Convert the file, then ask questions about the CSV in plain English. Loam grounds your AI in the rows you provide, so the answer starts from the data.
